Perfect for stargazing and long walks through the Suffolk countryside.

YOUR STAY – SHORT BREAKS & LONGER STAYS

We want you to have a restorative, restful and private time during your stay.

Our farm, which has been in our family for five generations has 100 acres of arable and pasture land. It has several footpaths and in this part of Suffolk it is possible to combine footpaths and country lanes and walk for about three miles and not meet a car or person.

We would like staying at The Scrumpy Shepherd to feel like a luxury private hotel, so we have tried to go the extra mile and have included some extra treats to delight you!

Our shepherd’s hut is 18 ft long and contains a scrumptious double bed, fold out oak table and chairs, hand build oak kitchen area comprising of microwave oven, hob, mini fridge, butlers sink ensuite shower room. We supply all bed linen, towels, cooking utensils, Emma Bridgewater crockery, and a starter pack of oils, condiments and Stokes sauces.

THE SCRUMPY WELCOME TRAY

The Scrumpy Welcome Tray typically includes milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, oil, freshly laid eggs from our chickens and marshmallows for toasting. We also supply logs or the buner and the fire pit!

SCRUMPY ROMANCE

There is something about the warmth of fire and candles, we have a hand built wood burner inside our hut with a supply of wood provided free of charge to keep you warm and snug when the temperature drops in the evenings or in the winter months. This can be lit before you arrive (on request) to give you a nice welcoming start to your stay.

Outside we provide a fire pit, barbecue and oak table and chairs with lighting in the orchard trees so that you can choose to maybe cook outside on the barbecue or sit by the fire pit toasting marshmallows wrapped up in cosy blankets gazing at the vast Suffolk sunsets or famous dark starry skies.

We know that you’ll be able to relax here in the tranquil surroundings and feel restored by your closeness to nature. There are several other secluded and romantic places on our farm, whether it is enjoying the views over the valley at sunset, to the neighbouring village or taking a candlelit picnic and sitting down on our meadows that border the River Deben, the choice is yours.

The Scrumpy Ensuite

There is a feature bathroom hidden away at the end of the hut. Farrow and Ball green smoke paint, exposed copper piping , together with the old fashioned cistern flushing toilet and a copper showerhead combine to compliment the luxurious heritage design feel of this hut. Fluffy towels, hair drier and a starter selection of luxury shower treats are provided.

Sitting outside under the stars, wrapped in cosy blankets with a string of festoon lights above us, listening to birds as they settled down too, was a wonderful experience.
